2009 - 2010 MVMAA President

Welcome to the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association (MVMAA) Website.
In October I was honored to take to oath of office as your president for 2009-2010. I shared with those in attendance at our annual dinner the importance I place on the legacy, importance of relationships, and the critical role in which the MVMAA contributes to the support to our Total Force Air Force communities of Wright Patterson AFB, and Springfield Air National Guard Base.
Our association was chartered to promote community-military cooperation and communication and we seem to do a good job at that when it comes to senior leader to senior leader engagement. Where we fall short as an association of more than 500 people representing five counties and numerous individual communities is in communicating our support of those junior airmen, soldiers, and sailors from across the Miami Valley who contributes to the Global War on Terrorism.
When was the last time you stopped to say thank you to a young person wearing our nation’s uniform? Do businesses in your community, or do you, offer discounts to military members, their spouses or dependents? Do you recognize them in any way? And while I’m at it, I’d suggest to you that there shouldn’t be any difference placed between our active duty, Guard, or reserve. Since 1991 our reserve components have maintained a very high operations tempo in support of our nation, these warriors, their families, and employers deserve our equal thanks and appreciation.
Our citizens and communities are facing very challenging times without question. Our military share those same challenges compounded by long separations in support of national objectives that take them away from family, friends, and in some cases employers.
Wright Patterson Air Force Base along with Springfield Air National Guard Base is the crown jewels in our community, state, and country. I challenge each of you to learn more about these installations, and more importantly, the people: military; civilian; and contractor, that make them the success and treasure that they are.
